Puzzle # 69: Distance Sudoku!
G'day! Firstly, I wanted to apologise to folks who attempted my Odd-Even Killer LK Sudoku I posted a while back. I thought I hadn't yet posted that puzzle on my blog because I wanted to test solve it again ... and when I did, I found it was sadly broken when I was going to place the very last digit! :( Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess ... stay tuned for a reappearance of that visual aesthetic (because I think it looks amazing :)).
In the meantime, I have been dabbling in less common variants, like this Distance Sudoku I set a while back and just re-test solved; I do like the interactions in this variant, so keep an eye out for more such puzzles in the future!
Rules:
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Distance rules: Outside clues represent the distance in steps between the digits IN THE GIVEN ORDER in the corresponding row or column - for example, the 7-6:3 clue in r3 tells you that 7 appears before 6, and there are 3 steps between them, i.e., 7, a, b, 6 (where a and b are 2 unique digits from the set [1,2,3,4,5,8,9].
CC :)
